With the Federal Election less than two weeks away, early voting locations will be open tomorrow (Monday, 8 May) at Southern Cross University and Saturday 14 May in Carrington Street in the CBD.
Don't think it will be easy with rain forecast all week, the lack of parking spaces and the confusion for the Southern Cross University (SCU) venue.
Here are some details explaining where they are and how best to get to them.
12 & 14 Carrington Street, Lismore:
Opens on Saturday 14 May: 9am to 4pm.
Monday 16 May to Thursday 19 May: 8am to 8pm
Friday 20 May: 8am to 6pm
Election Day Saturday 21 May: 8am to 6pm
This is next door to the Salvos building, just down from Cafe Capello.
Parking will be more difficult due to the new Tradie parking introduced by Lismore City Council this week. The middle lanes in Magellan Street can be used when you turn in off the Keen Street roundabout or on the left side near the Pie Cart. The middle sections of Keen and Molesworth Street are other options.
As you can see by the photo above, work was being done on the building to get it completed in time for Monday's 8am start.
Southern Cross University - Military Road, East Lismore
Opens Monday 9 May to Friday 13 May: 8am–8pm
Saturday 14 May: 9am–4pm
Monday 16 May to Thursday 19 May: 8am–8pm
Friday 20 May: 8am–6pm
As we all know SCU is a large venue so just to say SCU will help absolutely no one. SCU's Ben Roche confirmed to the Lismore App that H-Block is where early voting will take place.
While it is easy to see on a map, H-Block is more difficult to reach due to parking.
At the time of writing, there were no Federal Election Early Voting signs which you would expect to be more visible come Monday.
If coming in from Military Road and parking in the lower car park, walk up past the Fitness Centre on the right then veer right at or after the Community Banking Hub and look for the Head To Health signs. H-Block is further up the hill.
An easier route is to drive down University Loop Road from the Rotary Drive roundabout and park in the car parks when you first drive in. Go down the steps at the Visual Arts building and head right.
The new Living School building is just to the right along University Loop Road making access difficult from that entrance as it is a restricted area.
Both venues will be open:
If Early Voting proves too hard or read likes it is too imposing, there is always Postal Voting.
POSTAL VOTES
You are eligible to apply for a postal vote if you are unable to get to a polling place on election day. The AEC encourages you to apply as soon as you know you are eligible.
If you are a registered general postal voter and your postal address has changed or you have been affected by the recent floods you can update your postal address online.

Submitting your ballot papers
Ballot papers must be completed and witnessed on or before election day. We encourage you to do this as soon as possible after receiving your vote.
Please follow the instructions on the inside of the postal vote certificate. Once you have completed your postal vote, return it inside the white return envelope provided. The address to use to return your postal vote will be printed on the materials you received.
You have only 13 days after the election for your ballot papers to be received by the AEC.
The close of postal vote applications is Wednesday 18 May, 2022.
An application for a postal vote must be received by the AEC no later than 6pm on the Wednesday before election day.
Hospitals and care facilities
We have engaged with health authorities and mobile voting teams will not be able to visit all aged care facilities or any hospitals given the higher COVID-19 risk in these settings.
People in these facilities are able to apply for a postal vote or visit a nearby in-person voting centre. The AEC have teams in regular contact with relevant facilities to provide support.
