Change of venue for FNC Rugby Union Preliminary Finals

The Far North Coast Rugby Union Preliminary Finals have been moved from Crozier Field in Lismore to Pioneer Park in Wollongbar after continued wet conditions forced a change.

Lismore City Council made the decision on Friday ahead of a bumper finals schedule for the field.

Rugby Union, Rugby League and Soccer all have finals planned for the precinct and the continued wet weather has put the grounds at risk.

The FNC Rugby Union have been fortunate enough to be able to access Pioneer Park and the Preliminary Finals will go ahead as planned.

The Lismore Colts will open the day against Mullumbimby, with a Grand Final spot the incentive for victory.

They go into the match with confidence after a 35-5 triumph over Yamba last weekend in the Minor Semi Final.

The Lismore side defeated the Moonshiners in Round 3, 7-0 and it was the Moonshiners who took the last contest in Round 8 17-10, so it is sure to be a close contest.

A win for the young side will allow them to join the Women's side on Grand Final day next Saturday after they defeated Casino in the Major Semi Final last weekend.

In First Grade, Ballina and Casuarina will clash to determine who will play Wollongbar Alstonville in the Grand Final, in what should be a physical encounter.

Casino and Ballina will contest the Women's Preliminary Final, with Lismore watching on to see who their opponent will be in the decider.

In other matches, Casuarina and Ballina will also meet in the Second Grade match and Yamba and Richmond Range will play in the President's Cup match.
