Celebrating the Lismore Business Community everyday heroes

During times of crisis, it's often the stories of kinship and community-mindedness that shine through. Recently the Lismore App was informed by a business owner that he had been given support from an aligned business to open, due to the offer to share staff.

Addo from Uncle Afro's told us "I thought it was incredible, you don't hear of this kind of community-mindedness in other places" when Earth Oven Woodfired Pizza offered to send their staff member, Alicia, along with some others to work in his new Somalian Fusion restaurant.

Rodney, owner of Earth Oven Woodfired Pizza said. "We were operating a food trailer from the car park in the Quad after the floods, something we decided to do in response to the restaurant going under, but once that was refitted and back up and running, we didn't need to run it anymore."

"So we didn't need to operate the food trailer anymore, and I knew Addo was looking for staff so I put two and two together, it was a perfect fit really."

"I often get asked if we have extra staff, but there aren't often staff available, so this was just a perfect fit".

We also heard from David Mumford, Owner and Operator of The Wilson Motel. During the recovery, he was unable to find mattresses to restore the rooms to be rented to tradespeople, so the local mattress shop across the road, offered to help him, and gave him an excellent deal, so he, in turn, could house the tradespeople and some flood affected people, to get Lismore back upon and running.

We would love to share more stories of business community camaraderie, send an email to content@lismoreapp.com.au.
