Changes to roads and traffic in the city centre will begin in early February when Lismore City Council begins repairing Eggins Lane.
Council has employed contractors to repair the section of Eggins Lane, parallel with Keen Street, south from Larkin Lane.
The roadworks will require changes to access in the inner city laneways as well as possible changes on Keen Street to facilitate temporary loading bays and drop off areas for businesses during the works.
The road is currently in poor condition and the repair project will address long-standing drainage issues and improve the the road surface by rmoving old drainage infrastructure such as piping, inlet pits, kerb and gutter, and driveway gutter bridges and installing new underground roof-water connections, stormwater piping and inlet pits.
The road will also be reconstructed and sealed.
The Eggins Lane roadworks are funded by the Federal Government and were initially planned for later in the year, but Council has brought them forward to ensure the road is fixed before the Lismore Laneways Project begins in March.
The two projects will enhance the inner city precinct and provide an improved space for businesses locals and visitors.
The Lismore Laneways Project is funded through a $510,000 NSW Government grant and includes beautification, art installations and amenity improvements such as new lighting and greenery for the inner-city laneways.
