Following our earlier story of a woman's body being found in Casino and a man was arrested. The man has now been charged with murder.

The woman was found critically injured at a home in Casino at about 2:30 this morning (Saturday, 29 June 2024) when police attended a home on Johnston Street following a concern for welfare report.

Officers attached to Richmond Police District arrived and rendered first aid to a woman – believed to be aged in her 40s – suffering head injuries; however, she died at the scene.

A 31-year-old man – who police will allege was known to the woman – was arrested at the home and taken to Lismore Police Station, where he has now been charged with one count of murder.

The Casino man has been refused bail before his appearance in Lismore Bail Court tomorrow (Sunday, 30 June 2024).
