Just before 3pm this afternoon the Westpac Rescue Helicopter was tasked by Ambulance New South Wales to reports of an injured bush walker on the Mount Nardi trail at Mount Nardi, north of Nimbin.
It was reported that a 56 year old male bush walker has slipped 5km into the forest trail and acquired an injured ankle.
Local Ambulance Paramedic and Police Rescue Personnel located the male and commenced treatment for a fractured ankle.
Due to the remoteness and steep terrain of the location the Westpac Rescue Helicopter winched inserted the Helicopter Critical Care Paramedic who assisted in treatment of the male prior to being winch out from the scene and flown direct to the Lismore Base Hospital in a stable condition.
