About 8am (Thursday 23 November 2023), emergency services were called to a private property on the Bruxner Highway, Wollongbar, following a concern for welfare.
Officers from Richmond Police District remain at the scene – with assistance from PolAir, police negotiators, and the Tactical Operations Unit.
As a result of the ongoing operation, the Bruxner Highway is closed in both directions between Sneaths Road and McLeans Ridges Road.
An exclusion zone is in place, those in the vicinity of the Bruxner Highway and Lindendale Road intersection are advised to stay indoors. However, there is no ongoing risk to the public.

A Police Operation is underway near Wollongbar that has necessitated the closure of the Bruxner Highway between McLeans Ridges Road and Sneaths Road.
Superintendent of Richmond Police District Scott Tanner told the Lismore App to avoid the area.
Live Traffic has diversions in place:
Light vehicles only
Eastbound: Alphadale Rd, Rous Rd, Boundary Rd, Ellis Rd, Wardell Rd, Daley St, Main St, Ballina Rd, Bruxner Hwy.
Westbound: Ballina Rd, Main St, Daley St, Wardell Rd, Ellis Rd, Boundary Rd, Rous Rd, Alphadale Rd, Bruxner Hwy.
Heavy vehicles up to 19m and under 50t
Between Casino and Woodburn use Summerland Way, Ellangowan Rd, Tathan-Ellangowan Rd, Casino-Coraki Rd, Woodburn-Coraki Rd, Uralba St, Tuckombil Rd and Pacific Hwy. (There is a 15-tonne load limit on Casino-Coraki Rd at Tatham).
Heavy vehicles over 19m or over 50t
Use Summerland Way between Grafton and Casino.
