Brothers to shine in twilight fixture

Marist Brothers will host Tintenbar East Ballina in a twilight LJ Hooker League match starting at 4:00pm at Oakes Oval on Saturday.

Both teams will savour the cooler conditions in a match that will be the culmination of a big day for the club.

Brothers will host a meet and greet for junior players at 2:00pm, with fun games and a tour of the Oakes Oval changerooms. There will also be a free sausage sizzle from 6:30pm sponsored by the Bank of Queensland.

It has been rare to see cricket played under lights in recent years, and the club is hoping other local teams will head down and support the match after the FNCCC Second Grade and LDCA matches are completed.

The Brothers side has dropped to eighth on the LJ Hooker League ladder and will be looking to return to the winners' list against the third-placed Tintenbar side.

The home side welcomes back Zayd Thomas into the lineup for the clash with Tintenbar.

Goonellabah Workers Sports will travel to Casino to take on the Cavaliers at the normal time of 1:00pm on Saturday.

Goonellabah will be looking to improve its quotient with a big win over the last-placed Casino side.

They currently sit in second place, one win behind leaders the Tweed Banora Colts, who take on local rivals Terranora Lakes in Round 14.

GWS are on equal points with Tintenbar and will be keeping a close eye on proceedings at Oakes Oval on Saturday, as a top two spot is vital leading into the semi-finals.

The Northern Rivers Women's Smash will be completed on Sunday, with Round 3 to be played from 9:00am, followed by the Finals at 1:30pm.

Round 3 will see Marist Brothers Pitch Perfect looking for their first win when they take on Casino Blue on Oval 7 in Casino and North Coasties will play Casino Maroon in what should be a tight T20 tussle.

The Finals will likely see a replay of the morning matches, with North Coasties and Casino Maroon both looking to raise the inaugural NR Women's Smash trophy aloft.
