Marist Brothers will be out to defend their total of 273 on Day 2 of their clash with the Ballina Bears at Fripp Oval on Saturday.

Brothers were led by batsman Pat Martin (98) and Daniel Hamshaw (89) in posting the total in 72 overs on Day 1 of the Round 6 clash.

The Bears resume at 0/9 after facing just 3 overs last week.

The Brothers attack will be led by Brendan Mitchell and Owen Bensley, with youngster Hamish Weekes and the spin of Tom Parsons looking to take wickets early.

The visitors may also look to Martin and Hamshaw to roll the arm over during the day.

A win for Brothers will move them up the LJ Hooker League ladder to start the year on a positive note.

The match will commence at 1:00pm.
