Brisbane's new COVID cases is a concern for the Northern Rivers

Brisbane recorded its second locally acquired COVID-19 case in as many days yesterday with the potential for a lot more after it was discovered the man held a party for 25 people at his home after being told to isolate.

This has prompted a Public Health Alert from NSW Health which is particularly important to those living in living in Lismore & surrounds given our proximity to the Queensland border and the amount of business, family links and surgical & dental procedures that occur in the south-east of the state and the ease of travel between towns.

It only takes one case to put everyone back into increased restrictions so the word from NSW Health is to remain vigilant.

NSW Health is reminding people entering NSW from Queensland who have been in Brisbane City Council or Moreton Bay Regional Council since 11 March 2021 to:

·       Remain vigilant for symptoms of COVID-19 and get tested and isolate with even the mildest of symptoms.

·       Monitor the Queensland Health website regularly to check if you have attended any of the venues/places listed and immediately follow the Queensland Health public health advice and contact NSW Health on 1800 943 553 so we can support you with access to testing.

·       Avoid non-essential visits to hospitals and residential aged care facilities and disability residential care services until further notice. Please continue to seek medical care as usual.

·       People who have been in the two areas who work in hospitals, residential aged care facilities and disability residential care services should check with their employer, monitor the Queensland Health website for further advice and use masks when at work.

Anyone who entered NSW from 12.01 am on 27 March who has been in Brisbane City Council or Moreton Bay Regional Council since 11 March is required to complete an online declaration.

The online declaration form, available on the Service NSW website, is for all travellers intending to enter NSW, including by air, road and rail. This form includes contact details and confirmation whether people have been to any venues of concern. This information is critical to enable NSW Health to contact travellers, if required.

Declaration forms can be completed within the 24-hour period prior to entering NSW, or when you enter NSW.
