To add to a chaotic day, Live Traffic NSW is reporting a two car crash on the Bruxner Hwy near Nielson Street heading out of the Lismore CBD.

Traffic is down to one lane and an already congested traffic flow is worse.

Richmond District Police and the Lismore City Council are advising people to stay out of the CBD.

Dawson Street between Leycester and Magellan Streets remained closed in both directions.

Lismore has received 174mm since 9am.
