With a cold temperature of 17 degrees and the first signs of rain, you know that something is happening weather-wise for Lismore & surrounds.
The Bureau of Meteorology says to expect 25-30mm this afternoon and tonight with as much as 50mm if we get a thunderstorm.
The reason is a slow-moving upper atmosphere front that is coming in from the west and moving very slowly in a circular pattern so it appears as if we are getting the rain from the north. Picture circular cyclonic winds and you get the picture.
There is a thunderstorm warning around Moree at this time and Helen Reid from the BOM says we may get some thunderstorm activity and potential hail as this front moves east.
Thursday will see an improving trend with only 10-15mm as the front slowly moves out to sea.
The good news is that Friday sees the return to sunny skies and temperatures in the mid-twenties and the weekend is looking good.
You can watch the storm activity on the radar through the Lismore App Weather Radar.
