BOM issue Flood Watch for Monday and Tuesday after trough deepens

The Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) has issued a Flood Watch warning for Wilsons River for Monday and Tuesday after forecasting heavy rain from a deepening trough.

Hugh McDowell from the BOM said there is an area of low pressure off the Queensland coast that is making its way down the coast.

"This trough is developing as we speak," said Hugh, "it is still early and there is still a lot of uncertainty with the weather pattern."

"It is looking better today than it was yesterday but we are keeping the Flood Watch in place until we get a clearer picture of what we can expect for the Northern Rivers."

Right now the predicted rainfall is for 35-80mm on Monday with a further 35-60mm on Tuesday, however, this may change with Monday's forecast lower after 5 o'clock today (Weather).
