Body located in search for missing man near Byron

A body, believed to be that of a man reported missing last week, has been located.


On Thursday (14 March 2024), officers attached to Tweed/Byron Police District commenced inquiries into the whereabouts of a 49-year-old man was reported missing from Elanora in Queensland.



His vehicle had been found abandoned at Ewingsdale, near Byron Bay on Wednesday (13 March 2024).


About 12.20pm today (Saturday 16 March 2024), the body of a man was located near a railway bridge at Tyagarah.



Whilst the body is yet to be formally identified, it is believed to be that of the missing man.


A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
