Lismore’s only specialist rental management agency, Lismore Property Managers, will be no more from July 1.

Rachael and Rodney Jenkins, who founded the company six years ago, have sold their “rent roll” to PRDnationwide Kyogle who are opening a second office in Lismore and changing their name to PRDnationwide Northern Rivers.

Ms Jenkins is going to work as property manager for PRDnationwide Northern Rivers while Mr Jenkins plans to start up a new business as a real estate buyers agent.

“The main thing was Rachael, who is the licensee and principal here, she decided that it's better that she focuses on property management, rather than running the business,” Mr Jenkins said.

“I'm going to be exiting the business altogether and focusing on developing a buyers agency for the Northern Rivers region.”

Mr Jenkins said he expected to take about six months to set up the new business and would be using the existing Lismore Property Managers logo.

He would be providing a range of services, depending on the needs of clients, from scouting properties for city-based property investors to hand-holding local first home buyers, he said.

“Buyers representatives are the next big thing in real estate in Australia and so I want to try to capture that market for the North Coast region,” he said.

Mr Jenkins said he and Ms Jenkins had been working so hard transferring their clients to the new real estate agency they hadn’t had time to emotionally process the change.

“I think we’ll both collapse in a heap on the first of July,” he said. “I'd say we’ll be quite teary at the end of it. It's definitely not going to be short of emotion, that's for sure.

“It's been quite a journey. We started off with zero clients and we ended up with about 125 across almost 170 properties. So yeah, we've done quite well.

“We're really thankful to Lismore community for welcoming us with open arms and all the people that have supported us over the years.”

The new PRD Northern Rivers office will open in Molesworth St on July 1.
