Workers had trouble keeping up with Redbirds in an 11-0 loss in Far North Coast Baseball on Saturday.

A big innings in both the fifth and sixth saw Redbirds take an 11 run lead with Workers unable to respond with any of their own. A single by Nick Battese in the second inning was one of the only positive plays for Workers with much of the team seeming to be more focused on anything other than the game.

Robbie Pruess got the start for Redbirds. He threw a shutout, surrendering zero runs on six hits over seven innings, striking out two and walking one.

Noah Worgan led things off on the mound for Workers. He went five and a third innings, allowing ten runs (five earnt) on nine hits and striking out three. Battese threw one and two-thirds innings out of the bullpen.

Worgan, Nick Johnstone, Seth McClelland, Riley Gregor, Dan Clark, and Battese each collected one hit for Workers, while Redbirds had 11 hits in the game. Josh Healy, Luke Davis, and Nathanial Steele all managed multiple hits.

Healy went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead his team in hits including six RBIs. Redbirds didn't commit a single error in the field which proved to be a huge difference defensively.

On field 1, Brothers lost the lead late in a 9-3 defeat to Norths on Saturday. The game was tied at three a piece with Norths batting in the top of the eighth, when James Baxter singled on a 2-1 count, scoring two runs. This allowed

Norths to get on a roll, scoring 5 in that innings to put a comeback out of reach for Brothers.

Brothers struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Norths, giving up nine runs from eighteen hits .

Baxter led things off on the hill for Norths. He allowed ten hits and three runs over eight innings, striking out five.

Andrew Carrall was on the hill for Brothers. He lasted four innings, allowing seven hits and two runs while striking out one. Damien Santin and Matt Wyatt entered the game as relief, throwing three and a third innings and one and two-thirds innings respectively.

Nathan Bezrouchko went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead Brothers in hits.

Norths’ Mark Robb, Lucus Myers, Tim Starr, George Cooper, Jason Bromell, Baxter, and Liam Weekes each had multiple hits for Norths.
