Byron Shire Council has closed a section of Bangalow Road near Bangalow this afternoon (Friday, 9 January) following an incident.

NSW Police and NSW Rural Fire Service are investigating.

The road is closed at the bridge between Coopers Shoot Road and Arrow Head Lane, and it is expected that it will remain closed over the weekend and into early next week as further structural assessment of the bridge is required.

Motorists are advised to use an alternate route and check Live Traffic NSW for the latest update.

“The road has been closed so that Council can inspect the bridge and make sure it is safe to reopen,” Phil Holloway, Acting General Manager, said.
