Attempted robbery and alleged axe attack in East Lismore

There was plenty of police presence in East Lismore this morning when police were called to a home on Elizabeth Street, East Lismore, following reports of an attempted robbery at about 9.45am (Wednesday 28 February 2024).



At the scene, police were told that two men approached a 25-year-old man, before threatening him and demanding keys to a vehicle.

 

The two men were unsuccessful in stealing the vehicle, and the victim fled to a nearby residence.

 


There he was approached by one of the men who allegedly assaulted the 25-year-old with an axe, causing a wound to his arm, before they fled the scene.

 

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the man at the scene before he was taken to Lismore Base Hospital for the treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

 


Detectives from Richmond Police District have commenced an investigation into the incident.
