The winners of the Tursa Art Prize at the Norco Lismore Show were announced last night.
The popular Tursa Art Prize is an acquisitive prize worth $2000. Tursa selected the Sponsor’s Choice Award with the painting remaining the property of Tursa.
The winning work was a Waterscape by artist Dellene Strong entitled “What the Tide Brought In’. She also won the Waterscape category with her work ‘Pondering.’
The Grand Champion artwork chosen by the judge from all entries went to Gio Hill with her Landscape painting entitled ‘River Gums’. The prize is worth $1000.
Despite the short timeframe to organise this year’s prize, judges were impressed by the number of entries and the high quality of work.
More than 150 entries were submitted by 90 artists across eight categories. Each category winner received a $300 prize.
Well-known artist Katka Adam won the Country Life category with ‘Caught in the Breeze’, as well as picking up the Domestic Animal and Wildlife category with “Welcome’.
In the Issues in Contemporary Living category, Elizabeth Campbell walked away with the prize for ‘After the Fires’, Margaret E Brown won the Landscape category with ‘Trees and Trees’, while Meg Egglestone took out the Townscape category with ‘Country Town’.
Maria Heaton won the Still Life category with ‘Ms Olley’s Kitchen’ and Tad Slufinski picked up the Portraiture category with ‘Self Portrait’.
In the Youth Art Awards 13 Years and Under 18 Years, Nakita
Bailey won first prize with ‘Koi’, Cloe Smart took out second place with ‘Skull’, and Nakita Roles won third place with ‘Green Tree Frog’.
