Police have sited and arrested a missing 45 year old man in Magellan Street this morning after he produced a knife when approached.

45 year old Stephen Luke was reported missing to police by a friend on Sunday 6 September, 2020. He had not made contact with friends or family in that time, which police believed was out of character for him.

Acting Inspector Anthony Smith said officers from Richmond Police District sited Mr Luke in Magellan Street and attempted to speak to him when he allegedly armed himself with a large hunting knife and threatened them.

A perimeter was established, and police deployed OC spray and a taser, before arresting the man and seizing the knife.

He has been taken to Lismore Police Station, where he is expected to be charged.
