ANZAC Day in the past two years has had its challenges with COVID-19 forcing commemorations to homes in 2020, then near-record crowds in 2021 as people returned still under COVID restrictions with QR Code sign-ins.
ANZAC Day 2022 offers little interruption or restrictions because of the global pandemic but the main march down Molesworth Street could have a more sombre feeling given the state of the majority of the shops and the personal loss that thousands of locals have suffered from the catastrophic February 28 flood which includes 17 members of the Lismore RSL sub-branch.
This is all the more reason for our community to come together, as we have for the last 7-weeks, and line the streets to pay respect to all our Diggers who have fought for our freedom, some paying the ultimate price. If enough people turn up at 8:45 Monday morning to applaud our Diggers as they march to the Cenotaph, we can forget our flood problems for a couple of hours and instead put our focus where it traditionally is on April 25.
"They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, We will remember them."
These are the details for ANZAC Day 2022:

As in previous years, if you cannot attend an ANZAC Day service and you wish to remember in your own way, the Lismore App has provided you with the Last Post and the 'Ode to the Fallen' in our specific ANZAC Day button on the main page ANZAC Day. This will play through your mobile phone, tablet or PC.
If you are unwell, you are asked not to attend any ANZAC marches. The health and well-being of the RSL sub-branch members is of utmost importance.
You can still purchase ANZAC badges, which is the principal source of income for the sub-branch, at Woolworths Central and Goonellabah between 9am and 4pm or 5pm, Wyrallah Road Shopping Centre between 8am and 12 midday and the Workers Sports Club in Goonellabah between 12 midday and 6:30pm.
There will be a free breakfast at the Lismore Bowling Club following the Dawn Service.
Wilson McClelland Lismore RSL sub-branch secretary said a very generous $1000 donation was made by the Belmont RSL sub-branch in Western Australia as well as the Lismore sub-branch assisting with the cost. With most of Lismore's CBD still closed it will be a way for the community to have a coffee or tea, something to eat and share experiences and memories.
The weather forecast is for a few showers on Monday but only 2mm to 5mm so take an umbrella just in case.
