Well-known Widjabel artist Oral Roberts has handed over a painting commissioned by Lismore Base Hospital Senior Anaesthetist Dr David Scott and the Australian Society of Anaesthetists.
The artwork is set to hang in the hospital’s new theatre complex once the redevelopment project underway is completed next year.
Dr Scott - who recently finished his tenure as president of the society - said the painting was Oral’s interpretation of care provided by local Anaesthetists.
“I’m a big fan of Oral’s artworks, and this one in particular is brilliant,” he said.
“If you look at it in person it looks almost three-dimensional. I think Oral has done a fantastic job representing the work we do in the region.
“After showing this piece off in the hospital today it seems like there is already competition about where to hang it.”
Oral grew up on the NSW North Coast and now lives in Ocean Shores. His works reflects his close connection to the Bundjalung land and culture.
His paintings are known for their strong connection to spirit and to the native animals he paints.
