AMCA Andrew Walker Shield highlight of Lismore Speedway's next meetingCasino speedway racer Shane Newstead won a thrilling AMCA Andrew Walker Shield at Lismore Speedway in 2015/16.

Castrol Edge Lismore Speedway fixture on Saturday, 16 November, will be highlighted with the running of the AMCA Andrew Walker Shield.

The annual event is very important on the AMCA east coast calendar, honouring one of the most dedicated members of the AMCA fraternity, who passed away some years ago.

The upcoming race meeting also will also feature racing for Wingless Sprints, Production Sedans, Junior Sedans, National Fours and Street Stocks.

“The Andrew Walker Shield is always a very keenly contested event for the AMCA division and is a race all drivers want to win because of its importance to the AMCA division,” promoter David Lander said.

Over the years this event has produced some great battles and exciting competition.

A very good example was the 2015-16 season Andrew Walker Shield that was a cracker after it went flag-to-flag and was won by Shane Newstead. With this victory Shane established a new track record of nine minutes, 37.095 seconds.

Newstead started from the pole position and enjoyed a trouble-free run at the head of the field as the race unfolded. It was not only a very strong win by Shane, but also the battle for the minor placings between Russ Hardy and Stuart Hall made this particular Andrew Classic Shield a great race – an event to always remember.

There's every chance, the upcoming 2019 edition will be just as entertaining as early indications are a good line-up of cars will be on hand.

Interest at the November 16 Lismore meeting also focuses on the Junior Sedans after an exciting feature race at the season opener on November 2. The main event featured an exciting battle, with several lead changes, between ultimate winner Ryley Smith and runner-up Connor Reeves. It's anticipated the two drivers will be ready again to turn on their exciting brand of racing come November 16.

Gates open at 4pm and racing commences at 5:30.
