We have had well over two hundred local businesses reopen since the devastation of February 28.
Recently, multinationals have started to resurface after large-scale cleanups and rebuilds. Big W in the Lismore Square, Bunnings in South Lismore and soon Woolworths and other specialty shops in Lismore Square.
The Lismore App can today reveal that Aldi's CBD store on Ballina Road or Conway Street will reopen on Wednesday, July 20.
An Aldi spokesperson said the CBD store is still in the rebuild phase but store operations will get a handover on July 11 when they will start to re-stock the store.
While the CBD store has not traded since February 28, the Goonellabah store has doubled its sales in that time.
"We were fortunate the Goonellabah store has a much larger footprint, so could accommodate the additional customers," the spokesperson said.
As for improvements to the new CBD store, what can we expect?
"We will be moving the liquor block in the Lismore store to the opposite side of the registers, this allows us to open up the space and results in a more pleasant shopping experience for our customers (similar layout to Goonellabah, however on the other side of the registers)."
"We will also be upgrading our registers to have the “dual chute” which you can experience currently at our Goonellabah store, this again allows for a better packing experience to our customers."
If you have been taking advantage of the selling of liquor in the Goonellabah store then make the most of it because once the CBD reopens Goonellabah will stop selling liquor for now.
"Goonellabah is currently trading under Lismore’s liquor license. Once Lismore re-opens we will have to cease trade on Liquor in Goonellabah. We are currently applying for a new liquor license for Goonellabah. We currently have a petition in-store to gain signatures of support."
"We are also open to receiving letters or additional acts of support from the community in favour of liquor as a permanent fixture in the Goonellabah store."
The Lismore App's 'What's Open' button has a list of businesses that have reopened since the record February 28 megaflood What's Open.
