After 22 years of providing quality picture framing and art exhibitions to the people of Lismore and the Northern Rivers, Rhonda and Derek are selling their beloved business, Armistead's Picture Framing & Gallery in East Lismore.
Wyrallah Road (43b) has been home for the entire 22 years of business building up a solid clientele base, however, poor health is forcing them to sell.
"My husband's health is not great," Rhonda told the Lismore App, "He's just applied for the pension so he can only work part-time which means I'm here all the time but I hurt my neck and back in January and it's harder and harder for me to spend a whole day here. It's just getting too much."
Rhonda said the business is profitable and would suit someone or a couple interested in art and art supplies or maybe an artist like herself.
"I can teach the new owners how to run the business and how to do all the framing. There's a real call for art supplies in our community since the flood because two people are not coming back into Lismore. I'm not talking about the cheaper art supplies, there's plenty of that, but good quality art supplies that artists can use. Even when I retire I'm going to need good quality art supplies."
The asking price is $68,000 which includes all the stock and machinery so everything framing-related, the display boards and all stock minus the art supplies that Rohand is taking with her so she can continue to create her art.
"This includes a new Bravetti saw valued at $15,000, a new Underpinner valued at $7,500 and a new compressor," Rhonda explained, "This makes the job very easy. All the other machinery is in good working order."
"We had our accountant have a look at the business so this is the total value of the assets someone will be buying. There's no goodwill in that price but the new owner will get our extensive client database so they can trade from day one."
"We've got customers that have been coming in since the first day we opened pretty much and since the flood, there were four framing shops and now there are two. People have been moving into their homes so we are quite busy."
