If you have your sights set on acting - then NORPA's upcoming acting workshops could be the answer to sending you on your way to Broadway.


NORPA, the region’s leading theatre company, is offering two sets of acting workshops during the school holidays: An Acting Intensive for young people (ages 12-16 years) and Open Acting Workshops for Adults (18+).




NORPA School Holiday Acting Intensive

 

Over three days NORPA’s School Holiday Intensive will allow young people to immerse themselves in the craft of acting, covering the foundations of professional actor training.


From voice to movement, improvisation to text work, stagecraft and character work, participants will develop skills, encourage creativity, and connect with other young people.

 

NORPA’s new Director Youth Theatre Scott Johnson, will lead the Intensive with guest teaching artists dropping in for specialist sessions over the three days.


Classes: For young people ages 12 – 16 years, Strictly limited numbers (16 max)

Dates: Tuesday 13 – Thursday 15 April 2021

Times: Drop off 8.45am, workshop 9am – 3.30pm daily

Venue: NORPA at Lismore City Hall, 1 Bounty St, Lismore

Cost: $270 per person

$100 Creative Kids vouchers from NSW Government can be used for this program.


 

NORPA Open Acting Workshops for Adults


Drawing on his extensive experience in directing and theatre making, NORPA’s Artistic Director Julian Louis will work with adults to explore acting styles, physical theatre and character play with.


"You’ll also learn about some of the theatre making processes that NORPA uses in the creation of new works," Julian said.


"This short block of workshops will cover a broad range of acting techniques and is open to trained performers or people interested in performing.

 

"In addition to developing your skills, these 2-hour workshops are a great way to meet other members of the Northern Rivers artistic community and introduce yourself to the company as it move towards casting its 2022 productions."


Classes: For adults 18+. Strictly limited numbers (16 max)

Dates: Tuesday 13, 20, & 27 April, and Tuesday 4 May 2021

Times: 6.30pm – 8.30pm

Venue: NORPA at Lismore City Hall, 1 Bounty St, Lismore

Cost: $150 for all four workshops, Drop-in rate: $50 per class.
