A venue change for Marist Brothers in Hooker League

A return to Oakes Oval was on the cards for Marist Brothers in Round 4 of the LJ Hooker League on Saturday.

Brothers and Goonellabah Workers Sports have opened the season with their home matches at Mortimer Oval and the region's premier ground was scheduled to be back and ready for play.

Unfortunately, it is just not quite ready, and the match has been moved back to Mortimer Oval.

Marist Brothers will host Tweed Banora Colts, who have had a solid start to the season, sitting on 15 competition points, after several strong wins to open the season.

The Lismore side sits in third and will welcome back all-rounder Jeremy Perkins, who missed their Round 3 clash.

The pitch may be a factor in the match, with a fresh pitch that has seen heavy rain on Tuesday sure to give plenty to the bowlers.

Cooper Williams has been in brilliant form with the bat in recent weeks, with scores of 68 not out and 85 not out in the past two weeks.

Goonellabah will be on the road for a second week in a row when they head north to Bilambil to take on newcomers, Terranora Lakes.

The northerners were solid with the bat last week against Brothers, and the strong GWS bowling attack will look to take early wickets.

Kaleb Armstrong finished with an impressive 5/14 off 8 overs last week and will look to continue the good form.

Goonellabah shared the runs around last week, with Nathan Bezrouchko and Damien Santin chiming in, after Jack Cooper dominated the first two rounds.

Both matches will start at 1:00pm.
