A truck driver dies in New Italy crash this afternoon

A truck driver has died following a crash at New Italy earlier this afternoon.


About 4:15pm today (Monday 29 April 2024) emergency services were called to the Pacific Highway, New Italy, approximately 46km south of Lismore, following reports of a crash.



Officers attached to Richmond Police District attended and found a Pantech truck had collided with a car, before rolling over.


NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the female driver of the car, aged 40, before she was taken to Lismore Base Hospital with minor injuries and shock.


The truck driver - a 39-year-old man - died at the scene.



An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is underway.


One northbound lane of the Pacific Highway is closed with Live Traffic saying ongoing police investigations are expected to take some time.


A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
