A Total Fire Ban has been declared for Lismore and the Far North Coast region today.

The fire ban is due to the forecast hot and windy conditions with the BOM expecting a top of 30 degrees with strengthening northwesterly winds between 15 and 25 km/h.

The NSW Rural Fire Service (NSW RFS) has provided the following advice:

Under Very High and Severe fire conditions:

• Well prepared homes that are actively defended can provide safety during a fire
• Follow your Bush Fire Survival Plan and remain vigilant
