Only one First Grade match was able to be played in FNC Rugby Union on Saturday.

The Ballina Seahorses had a comprehensive victory over Casuarina 39-19 at Casuarina after leading 27-13 at halftime.

The other two matches were postponed due to the condition of the grounds after a week of wet weather.

In the only match featuring a Lismore-based team that was held on the weekend. The SCU Gold Rats went down in their season opener 17-0 to Kyogle.

It was a solid start to the season for the Gold Rats after a late start to the pre-season and ground closures causing problems with training in the lead up to the match.

With several new signings, the Rats will look to improve next week when they host Richmond Range at Maurie Ryan Oval at SCU on Saturday.

Lismore will host Casuarina next week in First and Reserve Grade, Women's and U/18's.
