A new era begins with fundraiser at Macadamia Castle

For those that missed our story in October, the Macadamia Castle was sold and bought by Wildlife Recovery Australia.

Under new ownership the Byron Bay Wildlife Hospital has moved into the Macadamia Castle, making it their new home. The Byron Bay Wildlife Hospital treats injured and sick wildlife free of charge Monday to Friday and is now an additional part of the Macadamia Castle's ongoing attractions.

Today between 9am and 3pm the Macadamia Castle is throwing a 'housewarming' celebration and everyone is invited.

Before you get too excited, this is a fundraising housewarming so the entry fee still applies with all proceeds going towards treating sick and injured animals including endangered species.

Standard prices are $29.50 per ticket with families $90, however, if you spend $20 or more in-store on any item you gain entry for $50 for the family.

Russell Mills said there is plenty of gifts to purchase for Christmas.

"Plus we need to raise $50,000 to raise to meet our fundraiser budget so I hope the people of the Northern Rivers will come and support us."

Russell also explained the community will learn of the plans they have for the Macadamia Castle into 2022 as well as wildlife expert veterinarians on hand to answer any questions you may have.
