A 45-year-old man has been transferred to Lismore Base Hospital after being assaulted with a machete in Casino.
Around 6.50pm yesterday (13 January 2025), the male victim, aged 45, was at his home in Casino with several other occupants when a male known to him attended the residence.
A verbal altercation has occurred between the victim and this male. The verbal altercation became physical in the front yard of the residence, during which time the male produced a machete and assaulted the victim.
As a result of the assault, the victim sustained a deep laceration to his left upper leg as well as a smaller laceration to his left arm. The male suspect ran from the location following the assault.
Police and Paramedics were called and attended a short time later. A crime scene was established. The victim was transported to Lismore Base Hospital for further treatment for injuries sustained.
Detectives attended and an investigation has commenced into the circumstances surrounding the incident. Currently, the victim's injuries are considered serious but not life-threatening,
Investigations and enquiries to locate the male suspect are ongoing.
