Richmond Police District officers have arrested a 33-year-old North Lismore man after discovering approximately $100,000 worth of stolen items on his property.
New Richmond Police District Superintendent (Supt) Dave Roptell told the Lismore App that the arrest was part of a break and enter investigation.
"This was a joint effort between general duty officers, detectives and PCT (Proceeds of Crime Team). They have done a really good job."
"Items recovered included a box trailer, a Crown forklift, toolboxes, MIG welding equipment, a plasma cutter, a drill press, heaps of property from a variety of uses."
Supt Roptell said police began investigations when the Terania Street, North Lismore man tried to sell items to a scrap metal business in South Lismore.
"Basically, we were acting on information provided by a community source, and arrested the offender while he was attempting to sell stolen property at a scrap metal business in South Lismore."
"When we got the tip, we jumped on the information quickly and then applied for a search warrant at the North Lismore address."
Supt Roptell said the offender was refused bail to appear in the Lismore Court today.
"Other legal actions are being considered as we make further inquiries."
As for the expensive stolen items, "The stolen goods have been recovered, and inquiries are being made to determine who the owners of the goods are."
