2023 Elders Lismore Show breaks record in perfect conditionsThe Community Parade ended on the grass in the Main Arena

The 2023 Elders Lismore Show was an overwhelming success with a record gate as residents from Lismore and the Northern Rivers flocked to the Lismore Showgrounds to enjoy three days of family fun and entertainment.

"We are absolutely delighted," North Coast National President John Gibson told the Lismore App, "We haven't had the final wash-up but everything points to this being a record gate."

"It was so good to see the community support the show and enjoy the entertainment like the Monster Trucks, they were hugely popular, the Jetpack was there for the first time and was spectacular at night, the beef cattle was high quality, Tursa Art to name a few. The woodchop was popular too."

The weather played its part in the three days with rain falling on Wednesday and then staying away leaving perfect conditions. It would have to be one of the few Lismore Shows where rain did not play a part leaving plenty of happy, smiling faces to enjoy proceedings.

Another highlight was the Community Parade on Friday evening.

There were approximately 300 people walking in the parade and thirty vehicles as they made their way down to the main arena gate near the big grandstand from the northern pavilions before doing a lap of the speedway track.

An organisation participating for the first time was Lismore City Council which pleased organisers.

"Lismore City Council's contribution was unprecedented and ensured our success," said Treasurer Andrew Gordon, "That was off the back of understanding connectivity with the community. It was so refreshing."

John's final comment was to give praise and thanks to all the volunteers who contributed to another successful Lismore Show.

"Without volunteers, we wouldn't have a Lismore Show. All the people you saw in the pavilions are volunteers. I want to pay tribute to them and say thank you."

"And to our sponsors, a huge thank you. We wouldn't be able to put on the entertainment if it wasn't for them. I want to acknowledge all of our sponsors and look forward to working with them again in 2024."
