The Lismore App has been given more detail about this afternoon's movements through the CBD as approximately 120 Australian Defence Force personnel arrive from Brisbane at East Lismore before making their way on foot to the Lismore Airport.

The ADF are in Lismore to conduct military exercises tomorrow and Friday at the old Trinity Catholic College and the airport.

Major Alex Rubin Operations Officer for the 41st Battalion, the Royal New South Wales Regiment told the Lismore App that soldiers will leave the army barracks in East Lismore at around 3:30 this afternoon (Wednesday) in groups of ten, arriving at approximately 7pm.

The soldiers will be in uniform, so body armour and helmets and will be armed with F88 and F89 rifles.

The aim of today's exercise is to patrol a 7km area from East Lismore to the airport via a few different routes.

The routes will vary but include Dalley Street in East Lismore before walking down Wyrallah Road towards Ballina Road.

Some will continue down Ballina Road and over the Ballina Street Bridge before turning left onto Union Street and along the Bruxner Highway to the airport terminal.

Other groups will cross Ballina Road and move along Conway Street, turning right on Dawson Street towards Oakes Oval and left on Woodlark Street, crossing Fawcett Bridge and walking southwest along Union Street past the shops ending at the Lismore Airport.

"People shouldn't be alarmed when they see the soldiers walking through the CBD this afternoon, " Major Rubin said, " The public can approach and talk to the ADF during this exercise," he added.

"Most of the soldiers in the exercise were deployed into Lismore for the Army clean-up effort after the floods in 2022 so are familiar with the city."

Tomorrow's exercise at Trinity Catholic College has been delayed until after school has ended for the day, so the 'blank fire clearance' exercise will begin around 4:30pm and will involve the shooting of blank bullets.

At this stage, that exercise will be repeated at approximately 9:30am on Friday morning.

The ADF will be packing up and moving out on Saturday morning.
