The Vice President Students and Registrar (VPS&R) portfolio oversees Student Support services, Student Administration, and Admissions at Southern Cross University, focusing on student success and retention. 


The Stay Well unit under Student Support & Success Directorate provides well-being support including counselling, safety, Unilife events and sports.


Southern Cross University’s VPS&R is seeking Senior Manager – Stay Well. 


You will lead the UniLife and Safety & Well-being teams, overseeing sports programs, student loans, events, accommodation, equity initiatives, and support services to enhance student engagement, well-being, and success. 


Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Role model safe working practices, respectful behaviour, and the University’s values, setting standards for inclusion and equality
  • Lead the Stay Well work group, overseeing the creation, implementation, and progress of operational plans for respective teams
  • Provide line management and supervision for the UniLife and Safety & Well-being teams, ensuring performance, conduct, and team development
  • Collaborate with Senior Managers and University leaders to improve student progression outcomes, embedding safety, well-being, and mental health resilience
  • Research and prepare strategic analysis reports to inform decision-making on operational management, planning, and service improvements. 
  • Supervise, mentor and develop students on placement and support their placement supervisors
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with local health service providers to negotiate placements for students
  • Community engagement by way of offering services to local schools e.g. student involvement in sessions about health-related topics such as healthy eating, and hand hygiene, etc.


About you

  • You will be a strong and empathetic leader who is passionate about student safety, well-being and support. More specifically, you will have:
  • Relevant qualifications and substantial experience in direct management of large or medium multi-layered/skilled teams offering well-being student services that enhance mental health, well-being, engagement, and belonging.
  • Proven leadership of medium to large multiskilled teams with strong organisational abilities to prioritize tasks, manage resources, and adapt to changing priorities while maintaining quality and accuracy
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, with experience liaising with diverse stakeholders and preparing complex documentation
  • Success in managing projects, events, and activations, providing exceptional customer service, and understanding the challenges faced by new and commencing students
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with experience leading initiatives to improve and support student experiences independently

This position is:

Full-time, continuing (permanent)

Located at either Gold Coast, QLD 4225, or Lismore, NSW 2480. Generous relocation support available.

HEW 9. The base salary ranges from $129,848 - $136,131 per annum, plus 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation.

The total remuneration package is up to $159,273.
