Hawkins On Fire – Fire Protection Services is a locally owned business established in 2004 by David and Kathy Hawkins.

Based in Lismore, NSW, we’ve built a strong reputation as the North Coast’s leading fire protection company.

We provide top-tier fire safety and security services to a diverse range of clients and are now expanding our team.

About the Role

We are looking for skilled Fire Technicians, Security Technicians, and Electricians to join our team in a full-time, on-site capacity.

In this role, you will be responsible for installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and servicing of fire protection and security systems.

You’ll work independently and as part of a team to deliver outstanding service and ensure compliance with industry standards.

What You’ll Be Working On

You’ll receive full training in the fire protection industry and have the opportunity to work with (or learn about) the following systems:

  • Fire Systems – Fire Detection, Smoke/Heat Alarms, Fire Sprinklers, Hydrants, Fire Extinguishers, Fire Blankets, Fire Pumps, and Fire Doors.
  • Emergency & Evacuation Systems – Emergency Warning & Intercom Systems, Exit & Emergency Lighting.
  • Security Systems – CCTV, Access Control, Intruder Alarms (experience desirable but not required).
  • Electrical Test & Tag – Ensuring compliance with safety standards.
  • Passive Fire Protection – Fire Penetrations and Fire Doors.

What We’re Looking For

We welcome applicants from fire protection, security, and electrical backgrounds.

If you have experience in maintenance, servicing, or installations in any of these fields, we want to hear from you!

Ideally, you will have:

  • Experience in troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • The ability to work both independently and within a team.
  • A qualification in Fire Protection, Security, Electrical, or a related trade (desirable but not essential).
  • A current manual driver’s license.
  • The ability to be available for after-hours calls on a rostered basis.
  • A Police Check and Working with Children verification (or the ability to obtain one).
  • An understanding of Australian Standards and the National Construction Code (advantageous).
