
Family Support Network Inc. (FSN), a Lismore-based not-for-profit organisation, is seeking a Volunteer Treasurer / Board Member. FSN is dedicated to prioritising the safety, welfare, and wellbeing of children and young people above all else.
The Treasurer plays a vital role in ensuring the sound financial management and long-term sustainability of FSN. Working closely with the CEO and Board, the Treasurer provides oversight, strategic advice, and governance leadership on all financial matters.
Position Details
Preferential Skills and Experience
Professional background in accounting, finance, or business management (e.g., CPA, CA, or equivalent experience desirable).
Experience with not-for-profit governance, community services, or government-funded programs highly regarded.
Strong analytical and communication skills — able to explain financial information clearly to non-financial audiences.
Integrity, attention to detail and commitment to good governance and accountability.
Familiarity with MYOB or other accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks) an advantage.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and monitor FSN’s financial affairs in line with statutory obligations, the constitution and ACNC requirements.
Chair the Audit & Risk Committee and contribute to broader governance and strategic planning.
Ensure accurate financial record-keeping, reporting and compliance with accounting standards and funding agreements.
Present financial statements and reports at Board meetings and the Annual General Meeting, with support from the CEO and external accountants/auditors.
Support development of annual budgets, forecasts and financial risk management plans.
Provide clear, accessible financial insights to guide Board decision-making.
