The Role

ABC News is looking for an experienced journalist to join its dedicated team based at Lismore. 

You will create engaging stories, videos and audio news across multiple platforms to engage diverse local and national audiences.

Under limited direction from the Editor, the role will include:

• Researching story ideas, identifying sources and arranging and conducting interviews, leaning in to break more complex and difficult stories.
• Producing and presenting breaking news, Q&A's interviews and packages across multiple platforms.
• Proactively contributing to planning and commissioning process, to develop new story ideas that will engage diverse local and national audiences. 
• Contributing to the implementation of Local Emergency Coverage Plan and communicate with relevant stakeholders as required.

About You

You will be able to work independently and as part of a team and have a naturally collaborative workstyle.

You'll also have: 

• Advanced editorial and research skills to source and break original local stories that engage and enthral local audiences. 
• Experience and skills mentoring and developing content making skills within a small team.
• An understanding of local audiences and the stories that are important to them.
