My name is Virginia Waters, a long-term Nimbin resident, committed to the future of our community. Living in one of the most diverse and magnificent natural places on earth, which fills my life with joy and meaning.
I am passionate about representing Nimbin, our villages, and Lismore on the Council. The Greens ticket vision is to revive the Lismore region and create a fair and liveable Local Government Area (LGA) for everyone.
The recent floods and landslips have devastated our area, and I am dedicated to sustainable, community-led recovery efforts. As a member of the Nimbin Disaster Resilience Group, I focus on climate-conscious decisions, ecological best practices, nature-based solutions and preparedness for future disruptions. I have extensive experience in community services, events management and managing community response and projects to natural disasters since the 2019 fires. I am committed to strengthening our community’s and environment's resilience.
I believe in transparent governance that is civil and respectful. I am committed to being a strong voice for Nimbin and our villages, advocating for their needs and concerns. I want a Council environment where dialogue is open, constructive, and inclusive. As a strong advocate for local council as a conduit for community to state and federal governments. I aim to ensure our voices are heard and that we secure the support and resources needed to rebuild.
Should I be elected I will bring a fresh perspective to the Council, eager to work toward a collaborative, transparent, sustainable, and resilient future for our community.
