Because of your support, I’ve had the honour of serving as your Mayor since the last election in December 2021.

And I know it’s been a challenging time for our community. The 2022 floods changed everything.

Despite this, we’ve been able to achieve a lot together. We secured more housing, we’ve supported our businesses, and we’re reopening community facilities.

We have recently, after decades of neglect by others, secured funding to fix our drains.  Our massive road funding package will transform our City and the connections between our villages.

By finally turning the Council around with strong leadership, we can now support our local businesses to grow our local economy guaranteeing jobs.

But we all know there’s more to be done and I need your vote to make sure we can continue to rebuild together.

What are the THREE most critical issues Lismore is facing this term, and how will you help solve them?

When I decided to stand up and run as Mayor in 2021, I listed some key objectives. They are as relevant today as they were back then.

FIX OUR ROADS - my team have secured the largest road funding package in the history of Australian local government.  That program will be managed by us so that you and I decide the priorities, not some faceless Sydney bureaucrat. This work will commence soon and will transform our roadwork and the connections between our towns.

MANAGE FINANCES - remember the $60,000,000 deficit? Well, that was only part of the story. Did you know that previous Councils had to sell assets just to cover wages.  I am proud of how we have done more to implement sound financial measures and governance - something previous Councils ignored.  We have restored credibility to our balance sheet, we are meeting our obligations, and even our opponents are conceding that we have fixed governance issues at Council. And, despite much of our city getting destroyed by the flood we have kept rates and fees as low as we can.

BRING JOBS TO OUR TOWN - we are the only team that recognises the critical importance of small business to our town.  It is our town's businesses that provide the jobs and the growth that we need so we survive as a city, and so you and your families have a reason to live here.  In the next short while, I will be making major announcements about new industries and businesses that are coming to Lismore. Jobs mean growth - not only for our city but also for our residents - you and your family.

What difference would you make as the Mayor of Lismore?

I would like to think that over the past three and a bit years I have got to meet many of you and your families. I’m a genuine down to earth guy who says things as I see them.  Listening to all of the community - not just some elite often out of touch sections - has set me and my team apart from what existed before.

I will continue that approachable friendly conversation with you as I know you want to see Lismore a better place for everyone.

Where do you want Lismore to be in four year’s time?

I want a town where there are opportunities. For study, for work, for tourists.  We will recognise our unique history but also recognise that we cannot stand still or go backwards. By Rebuilding Together we can achieve all this and more.
