Protesters Falls walking track

Protesters Falls walking track

Nightcap National Park

The 1.4km (return) Protesters Falls walking track takes about about 1 to 1.5 hours and leads through superb World Heritage rainforest before arriving at spectacular waterfalls in Nightcap National Park, near Lismore. Named after the Terania Creek protests of the late 1970s that saved this precious patch of pristine rainforest, it's an important habitat for a range of endangered frogs, including the threatened Fleay's barred frog and pouched frog. If you've worked up an appetite, enjoy a leisurely lunch at Terania Creek picnic area. IMAGE: Michael J Fromholtz

How to get there:

  • From The Channon, turn right before the Channon Tavern (signposted) then veer left at the general store on Terania Creek Road.
  • Drive for approximately 15km to the end of this mostly rough gravel road with quite a few potholes.
  • Park at Terania Creek picnic area, at the northern end of Terania Creek Road.
