Labor: William Harrison

Labor: William Harrison

A current Year 12 student at Trinity Catholic College and retail worker at Woolworths Goonellabah.

William is hardworking and passionate about issues that impact the environment and society.

Within my local school community, I have served in multiple leadership positions, including being an elected member of the Student Representative from 2019-2024, and I have held numerous positions within that time, including treasurer, chair, and note taker, and I am currently serving as secretary to the SRC.

I also hold positions outside of my school community, including being elected as the NSW Young Labor non-voting delegate for the state electorate of Lismore to the NSW Young Labor state conference.

Within the past two years, the Lismore local community has seen drastic change due to the flooding of the Wilsons River twice with record-breaking heights within two months. The floods saw the inundation of the Lismore CBD and many schools, including my own. This has created unique challenges to the local community that have never been faced before, and it has created the need for a progressive and involved local council to support the community.

I want to represent the ALP at the local Lismore city council election as I am passionate about fostering positive change within our local community, which, I believe, it is in dire need of.

The current Lismore local council, although well-intentioned, has ultimately failed to address some of the core economic, environmental, and housing issues and concerns of the local community, and with this failure, I believe that the council requires a progressive change with councillors that will address these core concerns of the local community.

The Labor Party's platform resonates with me as the ALPs policy platform aims to efficiently resolve the economic, environmental, and housing disparities which have occurred within the local Lismore community due to the recent flood event.

I want to represent Labor's progressive solutions into the Lismore City Council as I believe that the community is in need of a progressive Labor-led council with a forward-thinking and inclusive policy that supports the community.

I want to participate and be directly involved with this need of progressive change, and that is why I want to represent the ALP and its progressive policy at the local Lismore City Council elections.
