Kwasi Bruni Big Band is a high-energy Afro-Cuban Jazz big band based in Northern NSW.
Kwasi Bruni is co-led by Australian bassist Barry Hill (Amphibian, The Bird, Dha) and Colombian expat pianist Camilo Losada.
Kwasi Bruni Big Band brings deep salsa dance grooves, throws in a funky horn section and plays Afro-Cuban music ‘descargas’ style, paying tribute to
the legendary latin bandleaders Cachao Lopez, Tito Puente, Mongo Santa Maria and the Palmieri brothers. The band celebrates the spirit of Afro-Cuban ‘descargas’ (jam sessions) with Australian audiences, while adding its own antipodal twist.
The band’s line-up was born out of a series of informal jam sessions and backyard barbecues where musicians interested in Latin music came
together to play and jam.
Kwasi Bruni are becoming a favourite gig to catch at venues and festivals throughout the Northern Rivers region. Don’t miss them!
